Keeping data
Reflections stay 3 months by default and memories 7 days. Delete anything in Settings. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription.
PURPOSE is an account-free nutrition journal operated by Ken Isaac Tibio. We do not sell personal information or use journals for advertising. PURPOSE is for ages 13+, and is not offered in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom or Switzerland.
1. Information we handle
Your profile, height, age, sex, birthday, nutrition targets, meals, water, fasting, weight, reflections, photos and preferences stay on your device. Label reading, guidance and reports run locally. Your date of birth is excluded from AI requests, analytics and operational logs; it may appear in backups you create.
2. Health data
If you connect Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android), PURPOSE reads your steps and active calories. Access is read-only. On Android, if Health Connect has no steps, PURPOSE can count them with Google Play services (Recording API) using the Physical activity permission.
Steps appear in Today, Progress and your exports. Active calories are used only if you turn on Offset Burn, to adjust your daily calorie goal.
This data stays on your phone. It is never sold, never used for ads and never sent to AI providers. Disconnect in Settings, or revoke access in Apple Health or Health Connect.
3. Online services
- Google Gemini or OpenAI processes permitted AI requests. AI Scan sends your chosen meal photo, description, notes and follow-up details; review estimates before saving. Ask PURPOSE sends your question and recent conversation.
- Personalize replies (Personalization) is optional and off by default. It adds goals, recent progress and relevant memories, possibly your goal after Offset Burn. It excludes steps, active calories, birthday, reflections and photos. Anything you type is sent. Memories are for preferences, routines and plans, not sensitive health details.
- Supabase processes online requests, access checks, AI permissions, feedback and security records. Reports send app diagnostics, never questions, answers, journal content, health measurements or photos.
- RevenueCat handles limited purchase, device and installation information for access and restoration. Apple or Google handles payment; we receive no card details. RevenueCat receives no journal, photos or conversations.
- Open Food Facts receives selected barcodes. Zoho Mail receives support emails, addresses and attachments.
Services receive connection information including IP addresses and may process abroad under their own terms. We use limited records for requested features, security, abuse prevention and legal duties; disclosure may be required by law. AI providers may retain submissions under their terms; local deletion cannot erase their copies.

Service and permission records exclude journal content, photos, birthday and AI messages. Backups are files you create and control. Anyone with a backup file can open it, so store it somewhere private. Older encrypted backups can still be restored with their key. PURPOSE does not keep a recoverable cloud copy of your journal. If you use Android device backup, it may include PURPOSE data. Restoring a subscription does not restore journal data. Exports and backups saved elsewhere follow that service’s practices.
5. Your choices and rights
Manage permissions, export, back up or delete data in Settings. AI requires separate permission; purchases and camera access do not grant it. Disable AI to stop new requests; disable Personalization to stop memory learning and sharing. Delete exported files separately. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription or erase provider records.
Email for access, correction or deletion of online records; we may verify installation or purchase details. We cannot access your local journal. We aim to respond within 45 days or explain delays. US rights include non-discrimination and authorized representatives; no sale, cross-context advertising or sensitive-information inference. Local rights and regulator complaints apply, including through the Philippine National Privacy Commission. Report suspected collection from children under 13.
6. Contact and updates
Updates show a new version and effective date, with legally required notice or consent.
